You have been charged with a criminal, quasi-criminal, or regulatory offence. At best, you may be facing a fine or, at worst, incarceration. Irrespective of the offence, it is crucial that you exercise your right to counsel and speak with a lawyer. Every matter is unique and requires a different approach. At Burns Fitzpatrick, our goal is to get the best outcome available to you; this may be by proceeding through to trial, or by negotiating with the Crown.
We are able to draw from the experiences of our Associate Counsel, Stuart Lien, a former Crown Prosecutor, in order to best navigate you through the criminal law process.
Our criminal practice is vast and varied. We will defend all criminal charges pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada, including “white collar crime” involving theft and/or fraud-related charges; all drug charges pursuant to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; youths charged with criminal and drug offences pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act; extradition proceedings; violations of Federal or Provincial Laws relating to taxation, securities, and the environment; and Civil Forfeiture Act seizures of property alleged to be the proceeds of unlawful activity.
